Train
Like an Athlete!
In a sporting
environment, athletes are
required to move and perform in
a standing position. They
need to support their own body
weight and transfer power
through the coordination of
multiple muscle groups in order
to perform skills with power and
precision. If this is the
case, why do some athletes train
on machines where they are
seated, with their body weight
supported, and where only one
muscle group is working at any
one time?
The
physical demands placed on a
baseball player are unlike that
of any other sport.
Baseball's basic skills require
incredible amounts of power and
speed that must be combined with
balance and stability in order
to perform them with precision.
Machine-based and old-school
training methods simply
will not
prepare a baseball player for
the dynamic and ballistic nature
of the sport and may in fact set
them up for injury. The
athletic,
core-based training style
employed by Diamondawgs
Conditioning will develop an
athlete's strength while
teaching them to:
-Stabilize
their pelvis and core
-Maintain
balance throughout dynamic
movements
-Transfer
power efficiently through the
body
-Repeat
mechanics with precision
-Move
with greater efficiency and
speed
Each training session will focus
on developing the athletes weak
links in order to prevent
injury. Particular emphasis
will be placed on developing
strength and stability in the
shoulder.
