Miki Kawahara  BHK, CSCS, SCS, NCCP Level 3
Owner / Head Instructor / Conditioning Coach

Miki graduated with his degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia.  While in college he was an academic all-Canadian playing for the Douglas College Royals (NWAACC) and the UBC Thunderbirds (NAIA).  After finishing his playing career, Miki remained in British Columbia until 2007.  During that time he helped coach the Coquitlam Red Legs to back-to-back regional championships in the BC Premier Baseball League.  He was also a part of the coaching staff at West Coast Softball from 2002-2007. Over the past 5 years Miki has coached at the 2007 BC Provincial Camp, 2008 & 2009 Alberta Spring Training, 2008 & 2009 Canada Cup (Team Alberta 17U), and the 2008 & 2009 Alberta Prospects (Head Coach for 15U).  A level 3 baseball coach with the NCCP, Miki is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA), and a Sport Conditioning Specialist (TCI).

For 7 years Miki was a senior strength coach and manager of baseball conditioning for Twist Conditioning Inc (TCI).  Now living in Calgary, Miki has remained a Master Coach for TCI while continuing his work as a baseball strength and conditioning specialist.  Miki has worked with hundreds of athletes from youth to professional including players from Major League Baseball, the Junior National Baseball Team, the National Hockey League, the German Elite Hockey League, and Women's National Soccer Team.  He has presented at coaching clinics and strength and conditioning conferences on numerous topics in both Canada and the US.  In addition to Diamondawgs, Miki is also the co-founder of Inspiration Training, a personal training and athlete development company.

Tricia Kawahara  BHK, CSCS, EMT
Owner / Conditioning Coach

Tricia received her Human Kinetics degree from the University of British Columbia.  After graduation she entered the field as a personal trainer and also managed the West Side Gym in Vancouver.  An experienced group exercise leader, Tricia is a certified Spinning Instructor (indoor cycling) and has run circuit training classes for the past 5 years.  A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), Tricia is highly certified to work with high performance athletes.  Her unique and functional training style has motivated her athletes to reach their goals while enjoying the journey along the way. 

Tricia is also the owner and operator of Inspiration Training, a personal training and athlete development company.

Past Camp Instructors have Included:

Chris Ames - A solid outfielder at UBC, Chris was part of the 2003 Regional Championship team.  That year he led the T-Birds in batting average, slugging percentage, and on base percentage.  A multiple recipient of the Academic All-Canadian award, Chris was a solid student-athlete during his 4-year stint at UBC.

Curtis Bailey - Curtis is currently the Alberta Regional Scout for the Major League Scouting Bureau.  He has represented Team Alberta on 9 different occasions - four times as a player and five times as a coach.  Twice a member of Team Canada, Curtis is now playing for and managing the Red Deer Riggers.

Jim Lawson - A former member of Team Canada (1986) and 10th round pick of the Oakland A's, Jim played professional baseball for 3 years reaching 'AA' in the Southern League.  He is currently the owner and head coach of Pro Baseball Force, a Calgary-based company that operates a winter travel team.

Colin Hodgeson - As an 18 year old, Colin lead the Norwest Midget League with an incredible 0.61 ERA.  A member of the Red Deer Braves for three years, he was a finalist for league MVP in his final season.

Brendan Mix - An infielder with Minot State University (North Dakota), Brendan has played in multiple National Championships with the Red Deer Riggers.

Kerry Boon - A second baseman at Minot State University (North Dakota), Kerry has also represented Team Alberta at the Canada Cup.

Tyler Zaleski - Tyler first joined Diamondawgs during the summer of 2008 as a conditioning and movement specialist.  He is currently enrolled in the Human Kinetics program at Mount Royal College.
