Our winter camps are broken into three "phases":
Phase 1 - November & December
*Registration opens the first week of August each year
-Early off season means our focus is on making the necessary mechanical adjustments and developing overall movement skills in all areas - hitting, pitching/throwing, defense
Examples:
Medicine ball drills during our hitting sessions
Dynamic throwing drills for arm strength
Emphasis on defensive footwork
-To help with these adjustments, video analysis is used more in this session than any other time in the off-season
-Focus for pitchers is on developing arm health and strength through long toss
-Strength & conditioning and movement skills are a key part of our program through the off-season
Phase 2 - January & February
*Registration opens the first week of October each year
*Note that participation in Phase 1 IS NOT required to join Phase 2
-Late off season focus is continued development of all skills with progressions towards in-game skill development
Examples:
Hitting breaking balls and off-speed pitches
Pitching development moves to flatgrounds with progression to mound work
Defensive development for more specific in-game situations (e.g double plays)
-Strength & conditioning and movement skills are a key part of our program through the off-season
Phase 3 - March & April
*Note that participation in Phase 2 IS required to join Phase 3
-Pre-season preparation is based almost exclusively on live hitters vs pitchers
-Our facility allows pitchers to throw live to hitters and start accumulating live at bats prior to the start of the season
-In conjunction with our live at bats, we continue development of the swing and arm strength at all positions
