Miki Kawahara BHK, SCS, NCCP Level 3Miki graduated with his degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. While in college he was an academic all-Canadian playing for the Douglas College Royals (NWAACC) and the UBC Thunderbirds (NAIA). After finishing his playing career, Miki remained in British Columbia until 2007. During that time he helped coach the Coquitlam Red Legs to back-to-back regional championships in the BC Junior Premier Baseball League. Miki has coached at Provincial Camps, the Canada Cup (Team Alberta 17U), and the Prospects Series.
Since moving to Calgary in 2007 Miki has developed Diamondawgs, a baseball/softball education company committed to providing players with the highest level of on-field instruction and personal development. Diamondawgs has worked with local programs such as Baseball Calgary, South Bow River Softball, and Kaizen Softball. Diamondawgs continues to work with Babe Ruth Calgary as well as operating the National Sport Academy Baseball Program. His international experience includes playing in Japan and Australia as well as coaching in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. A level 3 baseball coach with the NCCP, Miki is also an advisor on the AABC Technical Committee and a certified Sport Conditioning Specialist (TCI). |
Donovan Feenstra CSCSDonovan grew up playing his midget baseball in Calgary for the Calgary Midget Cubs and the PBF Redbirds 18U program. He moved on to the University of the Cumberlands (KY) and pitched for the Patriots from 2010-2015. His college career set him up for professional baseball as Coach Feenstra spent parts of 3 years in various independent professional leagues playing for the Grays Harbour Gulls, Gateway Grizzlies, Joliet Slammers and the Seattle Studs.
Coach Feenstra is now back in Calgary and is the Owner of Calgary Pitching HQ. In addition to leading the arm strength & pitching development programs for Diamondawgs Baseball, Coach Feenstra is also heavily involved in the National Sport Academy Baseball Program as the arm strength & pitching coordinator. Troy LambCoach Lamb has an extensive coaching background that has deep roots in youth sports. Starting in Bow Ridge Little League as a teenager, Coach Lamb worked his way through the coaching system to play a large role in various Babe Ruth clubs here in Calgary. He is now the Head Technical Director for Babe Ruth Calgary's A League (13-14 year olds).
Coach Lamb leads the 12-13 year old Academy Program for Diamondawgs and also works with the 14-18 year old academy and hitting groups three days per week. He is driven to empower each athlete to strive to reach their baseball goals while helping them develop as young men and women. |
Alex MorrissetteAlex grew up playing minor baseball in Calgary before being drafted by the Babe Ruth Calgary Giants in 2011. After playing 4 years for the club, he immediately jumped into coaching for the Giants and has been coaching in Babe Ruth since 2015. Alex has worked with many different travel team programs with Babe Ruth Calgary. This includes the Winter & Summer travel teams as both a head coach and assistant coach. After becoming NCCP level 1 qualified, Coach Morrissette was a major part of the Zone 3 coaching staff who took home gold at the 2019 Alberta Zones tournament.
Coach Morrissette is also an assistant technical director with the Babe Ruth Calgary A League working closely with the players and coaches in the 13-14 year old league. As a full-time assistant coach with the National Sport Academy, Alex works closely with the academy's outfielders and hitters. Alex has also taken on a major role with Diamondawgs training sessions, working closely with 12-13 year olds and the 14-18 year old age group. |

In 2016 Trevor joined his old club and became an assistant coach with the AAA Giants. The following year Trevor accepted the AAA manager role, and found success winning the 2017 AAA championship and the 2017 AAA manager of the year award. Trevor has since become the club manager for the Giants and continues to find success while coaching various travel teams,also becoming an A league assistant technical director. Trevor has coached at the provincial level in recent years, being an assistant coach at the Alberta Summer games tournament in 2018 and in 2019 Trevor was an assistant coach on the Zone 3 team at the Alberta Zones tournament winning gold.
Coach Noah Carlson
Noah played last season with the University of Calgary Dinos baseball program as an outfielder. He was part of the National Sport Academy program through high school and has grown into a coaching role with Diamondawgs as a big part of our winter programs.

Carter played this past year with the Babe Ruth Premier Team as an infielder with an impact bat. He was a 3 year National Sport Academy player and recently committed to play baseball at the University of Toronto.

Nick played this past year with the Babe Ruth Premier Team and proved himself as one of the top catchers in the province. He was a 3 year National Sport Academy player and recently committed to play baseball at Okanagan College in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Blake came to Babe Ruth Calgary in 2016 as a 14 year old in the A league. Blake quickly proved himself as one of the top shortstops in the league. Blake joined the National Sport Academy for his grade 12 year and recently committed to Douglas College in New Westminster, British Columbia.

Jordan originally joined Babe Ruth Calgary as the head coach of the A league Athletics and has since become the club/AAA manager for the Expos. Jordan has had success within Babe Ruth, coaching many different travel teams and winning the AA manager of the year in 2018. Jordan has since become an A league assistant technical director working closely with the 13-14 year old league. In 2019 Jordan took on the head coach role for the Zone 3 team at the Alberta Zone’s tournament going 6-0 and winning gold.

Nolan has been a player in Babe Ruth Calgary for the past 6 years, starting in the A league as a 13 year old, and was eventually selected by the Pirates in the 2017 draft. Nolan has been selected to various travel teams throughout his career and has proven to be a power bat while playing excellent infield defence. Nolan has been a member of the National Sport Academy for the past 3 years and has since committed to play baseball at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. In 2017, Nolan was his team’s representative for the Matt Krol Sportsmanship Award as the player who exemplified the most sportsmanship on his team. In 2019 Nolan was voted a top infielder for the AAA league.

Carson has played in Babe Ruth Calgary for the past 5 years, starting in the A league as a 13 year old, and was drafted by the Giants in the 2018 draft. Carson has been a member of the National Sport Academy for the past 6 years and, as a high school senior, has yet to commit to a collegiate program. He has become a reliable bat, a shutdown infield defender and a vital member of the Giants pitching staff. Carson has played at the provincial level, being selected to an Alberta Summer Games team and has played for numerous travel teams within Babe Ruth Calgary. In 2018, Carson was his team’s representative for the Matt Krol Sportsmanship Award as the player who exemplified the most sportsmanship on his team. In 2019 Carson was voted as a top infielder and top pitcher for the AA League taking home awards for both.
